Yellow Gesha Microlot - Cusco, Peru (200g)

Yellow Gesha

Our flagship microlot, and one of the rarest coffees we have ever roasted.

Grown by Dwight Aguilar Masias, one of the most decorated producers in Peruvian coffee, with multiple Cup of Excellence placements, and widely credited as the first to cultivate the elusive Yellow Gesha. This rare, yellow-fruiting selection has fast become one of the most sought-after coffees coming out of Peru. Farmed at Finca Nueva Alianza in Santa Teresa, Cusco, at 1,900 masl.

Floral and luminous in the cup: jasmine and lilac, soft tropical fruit and melon, ripe peach, bright citrus, and a long, honeyed finish.

Meticulously washed: hand-picked at peak ripeness, rested in cherry for 24 hours, floated, de-pulped, dry-fermented for 36 hours, then dried on raised beds for around 20 days until the beans reach roughly 10% moisture.

From cherry to 10% moisture

01

Hand-picked

Cherries are picked at peak ripeness, selecting only the fully yellow fruit.

02

24 h rest

The cherries rest for 24 hours before floating removes any defects and underripes.

03

De-pulped

The fruit is removed mechanically, leaving the mucilage-covered parchment.

04

36 h dry ferment

A controlled 36-hour dry fermentation develops clarity and sweetness.

05

20 days drying

Dried slowly on raised beds for around 20 days until the beans stabilise at roughly 10% moisture.
